The rain did little to dampen the spirits of 4th, 5th and 6th Classes on their school tour to the Oysterhaven Activity Centre. The venue, chosen by the children offered a range of land and water activites. The day began with a ‘Jungle Quest’ and finished with some water sports. As can be seen from the photo gallery the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and all arrived home exhausted but happy.
Funky Hair Day
Well done to all the boys and girls who raised €500 for Cork’s 96fm Giving for Living Radiothon. They held a ‘Funky Hair’ Day and brought in donations. The hairstyles were wonderful as was the generosity of all our families. The money has been forwarded to the Mercy Hospital Cork, where it will go towards helping those fighting cancer.

Operation Healthy Lunchboxes!
February 2, 2016
As you are aware, healthy eating habits start early in childhood and can last a lifetime. Lunchtime provides one third of a child’s daily nutrition requirements so where better to start!
In conjunction with our school’s healthy eating policy, we will be taking part in ‘Operation Healthy Lunchbox’ which has been launched through the RTÉ One show ‘Operation Transformation’. They want to see Irish children’s lunchboxes transform over the next few weeks and are asking schools to support their healthy lunch box initiative. To help with this mission, safefood have created a Healthy lunchbox leaflet with everything you need to know.
While classes get munching on those healthy lunches, teachers will be taking photos of the proud owners holding up their healthy lunchboxes and uploading the best lunchbox photos to our website. There will also be a prize for the healthiest lunchbox in each classroom at the end of the month!
Looking forward to seeing all the healthy lunchboxes !

We received the Irish Tricolour at our school as part of the Centenary celebrations of the Easter Rising of 1916. Sergeant Christopher Hoare and Gunner Mark Coffey of Collins Barracks in Cork presented Noah Walsh of 6th Class with the flag. Shannon O’Shaughnessy (6th Class) helped to read The Proclamation of 1916 and Michelle O’Keeffe (6th Class) read a poem entitled ‘The Toast’ All pupils then played and sang The National Anthem. Thanks to Sgt. Hoare and Gunner Coffey for answering all our questions and to the Parents Association for the wonderful refreshments.
